Around this time last year, I made a guess that the absence of Yamazaki Limited Edition 2018 in Suntory’s Summer Gift Collection meant that there would be no such release. That guess turned out to be accurate.
Considering where we are with stocks of brand-name Japanese whisky, I don’t think many people were expecting to see a Limited Edition bottle this year either. And now we more or less have confirmation, since today’s 2019 Summer Gift Collection announcement does not contain Yamazaki Limited Edition 2019. Instead it has Ao, Suntory’s new world blend due in a couple weeks.
Contrary to the fake news joke I posted yesterday, your best bet for limited-edition Yamazaki in 2019 is probably the newly released second round of the ESSENCE of SUNTORY WHISKY series.
