The latest single cask release from the Mars Shinshu Distillery is upon us. Le Papillon I. io is a 4 year sherry butt whisky.
Inachis io, known as the peacock butterfly, has since been reclassified into the Aglais genus. Here in Japan the peacock butterfly is found in mountainous areas north of Nagano.
This is a heavily peated release from the Mars Shinshu Distillery. Distilled in May 2016, it was bottled in October at cask strength 59% abv. 635 bottles at 700ml.
It would be nice to put this one head-to-head with the previous A. cardamines to see how they compare.
