Shibuya Edition joins Scallywag’s Adventure Series

Japan Import System has just announced that they are today releasing Scallywag Shibuya Ediiton, a Tokyo-only release of the Speyside Blended Malt Scotch Whisky.

Scallywag comes from bottler Douglas Laing, the same company behind the blended malt series that essentially covers all of Scotland’s major whisky regions: The Epicurean (Lowlands), Rock Islands (Islands), Big Peat (Islay), The Gauldrons (Campbeltown), and Timorous Beastie (Highlands).

As a vatting of Speyside malts, Scallywag uses liquid from several household names. Glenrothes, Macallan, and Mortlach, to name a few.

Their “Adventure Series” of sales region-limited bottles includes Scotland’s Highlander Inn edition, and it later moved over to Asia with the Hong Kong edition.

The Shibuya Edition here weighs in at 48% abv, so slightly lower than the previous two releases. It’s 100% aged in ex-sherry casks, a slight departure from the standard Scallywag, which uses primarily ex-sherry butts but also ex-Bourbon casks.

Like the iconic Shibuya 109 building appearing on the bottle’s label, Scallywag Shibuya Edition drops today, 10/9. You can pick up a bottle for around 7500 yen at any of the shops listed by JIS, or for just a dram, head to one of the bars they mention as having it in stock.
